A Jetstar flight headed for Thailand was forced to make an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from Sydney. Flight JQ27 departed for Phuket around 3:20 PM on Wednesday but turned back and landed in Sydney at approximately 5 PM. A Jetstar representative confirmed that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner experienced a mechanical issue that prompted pilots to request a priority landing. Emergency services were on standby as a precaution. Initial reports suggested that the plane’s front tire had exploded during takeoff; however, engineers later focused on the rear tire, which showed signs of wear. The airline later clarified that while one of the ten tires was damaged, it did not burst. Flight tracking indicated that the aircraft circled multiple times near Richmond in northwest Sydney before heading over the water and landing back at the airport. The runway was temporarily closed for about half an hour to facilitate the landing, and fortunately, all passengers were reported safe. Eyewitness footage captured by 7NEWS showed the plane landing smoothly, reassuring those concerned about the situation.
