From Picket Lines to the Set: My Journey to Acting in a Lindsay Lohan Christmas Film

In the wake of the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which left many writers and actors, including myself, grappling with uncertainty and dwindling finances, an unexpected opportunity arose. I received a script for a holiday movie titled ‘Our Little Secret’, featuring the beloved Lindsay Lohan. I was offered the role of Leonard, a character described as a buttoned-up guy in his sixties. At first, I hesitated; playing older than my age felt like a significant risk in an industry that often prioritizes youth. However, with jobs scarce and the pandemic’s effects still lingering, I decided to embrace the challenge. This role was unique, as it allowed me to work alongside Kristin Chenoweth, an actress I deeply admire. Despite my initial reservations about the character’s limited dialogue and screen time, I reflected on my career and realized that every role has value. I recalled the wisdom of Shonda Rhimes, who once said that losing oneself happens gradually, one ‘no’ at a time. Inspired, I accepted the role and headed to Atlanta for filming in February. The experience was transformative. I formed a strong bond with my co-stars, especially Kristin, and we worked together to bring depth and authenticity to our on-screen marriage. Our interactions off-screen fostered genuine chemistry that translated beautifully into our performances. As filming progressed, Leonard’s character grew more integral to the story, revealing layers that enriched the narrative. The sense of family that developed among the cast was instrumental in creating a believable dynamic on screen. Now, as ‘Our Little Secret’ premieres on Netflix, I’m grateful for the journey that led me here. The experience has not only reinvigorated my passion for acting but also reminded me of the importance of saying ‘yes’ to opportunities, no matter how daunting they may seem.
