PSV midfielder Guus Til has revealed a surprising lack of joy in his recent performances, despite scoring two goals and providing an assist in the 2-5 victory against FC Utrecht. In a post-match interview with ESPN, Til confessed, “The fire isn’t burning anymore.” He declined to elaborate on the reasons behind his statement, leaving fans and coaches alike puzzled.
His coach, Peter Bosz, remained tight-lipped, deflecting questions about Til’s emotional state. “It’s something between Guus Til and the club,” Bosz stated, suggesting a potential internal conflict within PSV. He subtly pointed to Earnest Stewart, PSV’s technical director, as the person to address the issue.
Til’s teammate, captain Luuk de Jong, also offered limited insight. While emphasizing the team’s overall positive spirit, he expressed his willingness to support Til and discuss the situation privately. “There’s enough fire in the team,” de Jong reassured fans.
Til’s comments have sparked widespread speculation, but PSV remains tight-lipped regarding the cause of the player’s apparent emotional distress. With 1.5 years remaining on his contract and only one missed game this season (against NAC Breda), the club appears to be taking a patient, private approach to resolving the situation.
