A manhunt is underway following a double homicide on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. A 29-year-old man and woman were found dead from gunshot wounds at a Rye residence on Parson Street just after 4 a.m. Sunday.
Victoria Police believe a third man fled the scene after an altercation at the house. Homicide detectives are investigating and have cordoned off sections of the street. While the investigation is in its early stages, police believe the victims and the suspect were known to each other.
Residents of the usually quiet street expressed shock and disbelief. One neighbor reported hearing a loud bang, resembling a shotgun blast, but no other commotion. Another described the home’s occupants as “younger guys” and said there had been no prior indication of trouble.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. An update on the investigation is expected Monday afternoon.
