Cormac Devlin, a Fianna Fáil TD, has had a remarkable political journey. Elected to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council at just 23, he became the council’s youngest ever member in 2004. His background is in financial services, but his political career quickly took off.
Devlin’s political resilience was evident in 2009, successfully navigating local elections. His ambition led him to seek a Dáil nomination in 2016, overcoming challenges to secure the party’s backing. Although unsuccessful in that election, alongside Mary Hanafin, he persevered.
In 2020, Devlin’s determination paid off. He secured a comfortable victory over Hanafin, securing a seat in the Dáil. His strong local support, and the transfer of votes from Hanafin, contributed significantly to his success. He also served as the Fianna Fáil whip during the previous Dáil term, demonstrating his commitment and influence within the party.
Devlin’s dedication to his constituency is widely recognised. His personal life is equally fulfilling; he resides in Glenageary with his wife and three children, reflecting a balanced life alongside his demanding political career. His educational background includes Harold Boys School in Dalkey, Pres Glasthule, and the IPA, providing a solid foundation for his achievements.
